Point Shop in Botrivier
When the Point Shop program in Botrivier began, we were unsure if it would work; if the children would find it interesting.
Then, one day, a young 5-year-old boy came into the Point Shop with his bag of bottles to the value 10 points. With his points he chose a toothbrush. Next to it was a facecloth, he looked up expectantly with his big eyes. Although it nearly brought tears to our eyes, we had to tell him he did not have enough points for both. We knew if we did not stay loyal to the system, it would be futile and like having no system at all.
Half an hour later the door opened and in he marched with a bag of bottles over his shoulder, smiling like a king … proud of himself and his achievement! We immediately knew our program worked.
Botrivier, a town won over
Botrivier has taken the Point Shop program to its heart. Kids, teens, adults – everyone has a need and understand the benefits this project brings, whether it is paper, bottles, tin cans or even batteries. Their reward points can be converted into clothes, food, toiletries, bicycles, sports goods and more.
Our good friends in Switzerland regularly send containers filled with wonderful items donated by supporters of the Lucky Point Foundation, which is then assigned a points value and arranged onto the shelves of the Point Shop.
