Charity Night by Lucky Point and Hope and Light Community Welfare

Charity Night with Lucky Point and Hope & Light Community Wellfare

Saturday evening, the 20th November 2021, saw the first joint hosting of the Gala Dinner and Charity Night by these two NPO’s.

The Lucky Point Marimba kids welcomed the guests with traditional local music while they enjoyed their aperitifs and the beautiful views of the Botrivier Lagoon from the hotel balcony. Creation Wines sponsored the welcome drinks and they were joined by two ladies from the wine estate who were more than willing to explain the award-winning wines produced at Creation.

Maggie Knobel, the organiser and Lucky Point fund raiser, welcomed the guests and invited them to join her at the beautifully decorated tables. Each seat had a sweet surprise sponsored by Lindt & Sprüngli South Africa.

Kevin Sutcliffe proved to be great fun in his role as MC and auctioneer and with great humour he set about opening the guests hearts and more importantly their wallets. Plenty of auction items were sold; the most exciting being a four ball at Leopard Creek Golf Estate which raised the wonderful amount of R27,000.

Bettina Dervey representing Hope&Light and Elizabeth Jacobs from Lucky Point (replacing Margrit Schwendimann who was unfortunately ill that evening) took the stage and in a convincing manner explained their roles and what each provides to their communities. Their commitment to their projects and those they support through hard work and care was there for all to see. Caring and sharing encapsulated the theme for both projects and the beautiful evening itself.

The band Solfège with Marysa and Marc entertained the 80 guests who clearly enjoyed their music. The dance floor rocked with a great vibe, which was such a change from the months of lockdown restrictions.

Thank you for making the event such a success. We hope to see you all again next year.
