A Day at the Beach

A Day at the Beach 2017

We normally take the kids for a day at the beach just before the new school year in the Western Cape starts in the middle of January.

We never know how many children will arrive but as the line of excited children grew and grew, we knew we were in for a busy day! The beach day was announced only two days before and soon – very soon – one hundred little ones stood waiting patiently for the transport.

Once at the beach, the children flew wherever their feet took them. Adults had to swoop like hawks here and there and everywhere to make sure they were all safe and sound.

The lure of sausages

Suddenly the air was filled with the tempting smell of sausages. Elizabeth was working away in the background at the fireplace, which was the signal to charge for food. Patiently, they waited until the delicious goodies arrived. Food was the only way to get them away from the water.

Thanks to all who helped, the day was a great success. The bus ride home was silent, because they were all exhausted.

It was a great day.
